About Us

Chandler United Methodist Church is just one church in a community of over 1,200 United Methodist congregations throughout Indiana. We've made it our mission to serve and invest in our community in whatever capacity we can. As an active part of the Chandler community, we work hard to bring the message of who Jesus is to those around us.

Our core values include...
  • Radical Hospitality
  • Passionate Worship
  • Intentional Faith Development
  • Risk-Taking Mission and Service
  • Extravagant Generosity
Much like the early 18th century Methodists, our general rules can be wrapped up in three main points – do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.

Chandler Food Pantry

At Chandler United Methodist Church we believe that feeding the hungry is not just a beneficial service to our Chandler community, it's also a Biblical principle that we should strive to live by (Matthew 25:35).

Chandler United Methodist Church's food pantry is a faith-based agency that works to assist people in crisis and empower them to improve their current situation by moving out of poverty. Individuals that are looking to benefit from the food pantry service are encouraged to register and provide Chandler United Methodist Church with some basic information.

Chandler United Methodist Church's mission is to increase access to food for hungry people in the Chandler area. Our food pantry services are for people who aren't looking for a handout, but rather hope for improving their current situation.

Chandler Bible Study

Chandler welcomes all adults to a Bible Study on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Bible studies are unique from small groups or Sunday school in that they have a sole focus. While small groups and Sunday school focus on a broad spectrum of spiritual growth and development, Bible study is geared towards one thing - understanding the Bible better.

Let's face it, the Bible can be hard to understand at times. Having a group to sit down with and discuss the intricacies of what's actually happening is a valuable tool to have. Being able to understand the context of which the Bible was written, the social factors of the time, and even learning about the authors can greatly increase your appreciation for what the Bible is telling you.

Not only do Bible studies help you to understand the Bible better, they also keep you invested in reading it by providing the accountability of a group to help encourage you to do so. At Chandler United Methodist Church, we strive to help our community focus on the Bible as a means to hear from God - not just something to put on their "to-do" list, a task.

Our Bible study groups are not just limited to adults. Children and young adult Bible studies are available throughout the week at Chandler United Methodist Church and are open to anyone that is interested.

If you're ready to get involved in the Chandler United Methodist Church community and be challenged by a group dedicated to studying the Bible, our Bible study program is right for you.

For more information on Chandler United Methodist Church and our Bible study groups contact us today.

Marriage Counseling

Whether you've been married for twenty years, or the big day is just around the corner, marriage counseling can be a useful tool to strengthen that relationship. However, the words "marriage counseling" can sound a bit intimidating. Really, marriage counseling is designed to help build or rebuild relationships and help couples make thoughtful decisions that will in turn improve the overall health of their relationship.

Chandler United Methodist Church's marriage counseling services are conducted by a trained staff that make it their priority to provide guidance and a listening ear. All of our faith-based marriage counseling sessions are 100% confidential. The two general areas of marriage counseling we mostly deal with include... In most cases, for couples that are looking to use our facilities for their wedding we ask that they commit to a brief session of premarital counseling before being permitted to use the facility. For post-marriage counseling it's not required for the couple to be members of Chandler United Methodist Church or necessarily attend our weekly services.

Making the decision to go to marriage counseling can be tough. But Chandler United Methodist Church's marriage counseling services can help you better cope with a troubled relationship - rather than trying to ignore it or hope it gets better on its own.

For more information on Chandler United Methodist Church's marriage counseling services, browse the pages above to find out how we can serve you, or contact us today.

Volunteer Opportunities

Many students seek out volunteer opportunities as a means of fulfilling a credit requirement for school or a program, which is why we do our best to facilitate whatever kind of volunteer work you're looking for.

Some volunteer work examples may be raking leaves in the fall for an elderly couple, fixing a meal for someone who might be ill or a family grieving the loss of a loved one, or serving our Chandler community in some other fashion.

Chandler Premarital Counseling

Preparing to get married is an exciting time. Between all of the wedding planning and getting to show off that shiny new engagement ring, the days and months leading up to the big day are thrilling. However, for couples that want to be reaffirmed of their decision and learn valuable skills to help keep their marriage a happy one, premarital counseling through Chandler United Methodist Church is a great idea.

  • Compatibility
  • Expectations
  • Personalities
  • Communication
  • Conflict Resolution Techniques
  • Intimacy and Sexuality
  • Long-Term Goals
In addition to exploring and discussing some of these important topics, premarital counseling can also help establish a positive attitude about seeking help with your marriage as time goes on.

All of the premarital counseling services at Chandler United Methodist Church are 100% confidential, conducted by our trained staff, and provide a spiritual perspective to marriage and how to maintain a healthy, fulfilling relationship - together.

Chandler Post Marriage Counseling

Let's face it, being married can be difficult at times. However, it's good to know that when things get hard that you don't have to figure it out all by yourself. Post marriage counseling from Chandler United Methodist Church is designed to help married couples talk through issues in a safe, confidential, and faith-based setting.

We know that seeking outside help for relationship issues can be hard - especially when post marriage counseling can be perceived as a last-ditch effort to save a relationship. But that's not always true. Post marriage counseling is a great way to stay in tune with your partner and continue to understand them better.

Think of it like your car - you wouldn't wait till your engine explodes before getting it looked at. All of the oil changes and regular tune ups are intended to keep that engine running smooth and efficiently, and make sure it never explodes in the first place. And post marriage counseling can work the same way.

Chandler United Methodist Church offers counseling to married couples that want advice in dealing with…
  • Communication Problems
  • Financial Issues
  • Sexual Difficulties
  • Substance Abuse
  • Anger
  • Divorce
Although this isn't an exhaustive list of issues that we can help couples walk through, we understand that no two relationships are the same and don't try to provide cookie-cutter solutions for your marital problems. The staff at Chandler United Methodist Church treats you like the individuals you are.

All of the post marriage counseling services at Chandler United Methodist Church are 100% confidential and organized by our trained staff. Even if you just need a listening ear, Chandler United Methodist Church is here.

Chandler Small Groups

Want to be a part of a small group or form a small group in your neigbhorhood?
Small groups are a great opportunity for people looking to get better connected to the Chandler United Methodist Church community. It gives individuals a chance to know one another outside of the conventional Sunday morning church services.

Small groups provide three basic necessities for developing healthy spiritual growth:
  • Accountability
  • Forward Momentum
  • Missional Identity
Accountability is important because it facilitates faith growth like few other relationships will. Life can be challenging and full of temptations, but with the help of small groups and accountability partners, you know you’re not facing it alone.

Forward momentum means that your connection with the Chandler United Methodist Church community doesn’t end when you leave the campus on Sunday morning. Intentionally doing life together keeps momentum moving forward throughout the week. This momentum can create an atmosphere for individuals to ask questions, seek help from one another, and challenge each other in their spiritual walk.

Developing a missional identity simply means that, while small groups are intended to develop the spiritual growth of the individuals involved, they are still focused outward in some capacity. There’s a certain part of spiritual growth that can only happen when you start to serve others around you, and that’s exactly what creating a missional identity is all about. Whether it means volunteering your time to help the people of Chandler, or focusing globally, our small groups encourage serving other people.

For more information on Chandler United Methodist Church or our small groups program, stop by or contact us today. We’d love to see you here!

Chandler Grief Counseling

At Chandler United Methodist Church, we understand that everyone grieves differently. The grieving process is as unique as the individuals that are experiencing the hurt and confusion. That is why Chandler United Methodist Church provides grief counseling services for people in the Chandler area that have just gone through the loss of someone dear to them.

Most people are familiar with the accepted five stages of grief:
  • Denial - refusing to accept the reality of the situation
  • Anger - blaming other people, God, or oneself for the loss.
  • Bargaining - trying to make deals with God or other people in an attempt to change or fix what cannot be changed or fixed.
  • Depression - giving up hope, losing happiness, and not being able to see any positive outcome from the situation.
  • Acceptance - learning to feel sadness while continuing to live one's life and move on from the loss
While not everyone experiences these stages or spends the same amount of time on them as other people, it's widely accepted that everyone, at some point, experiences these emotions to some capacity while dealing with grief.

It's never easy trying to deal with the loss of a loved one, but having people that are willing to rally around you and support you through that time can prove to be encouraging and helpful. The trained grief counseling staff at Chandler United Methodist Church is here to do just that, and to also help you understand your emotions as you transition through this time.

All of the counseling services at Chandler United Methodist Church are 100% confidential and strive to provide you with a faith-based perspective to your grieving situation.

What We Believe

Chandler United Methodist Church is a United Methodist Church, a mainline Protestant denomination, which has been a part of our nation since its founding. Its beliefs are founded on solid biblical teaching, shaped by John Wesley and the Wesleyan traditions of personal spiritual growth and community involvement.

The United Methodist Church beliefs include the practice of Holy Communion, which is open to all who seek to turn away from their sins and who seek to live in peace.  Its beliefs also include the practice of both infant and adult baptism. The United Methodist Church believes that no one can earn their way into relationship to God, but that only can happen through faith in Jesus Christ. God wants to be at the center of every person's life and God offers everyone, no matter their past, such access. This is called grace, God's free gift to all who will receive it.

The United Methodist Church beliefs include that God's truth is contained in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. One's faith is based on these scriptures and is informed and shaped by a person's experience, reason, and the traditions of the Christian church.

Chandler United Methodist Church is one of over 40,000 congregations located throughout the world.  Every one of these churches values the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. It's more than just about believing. It's about putting one's beliefs into action for the sake of helping others.

Worship Service

Chandler United Methodist Church, along with other United Methodist Churches around the globe, offers regular opportunities to worship God. These worship services are the primary weekly event in which each people gather to celebrate together their connection with God and the community they serve. Through singing, preaching, prayer, and fellowship, worship participants intentionally focus on worshiping God and developing their faith - a faith founded upon the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

All are welcome to attend these weekly worship services. When Chandler United Methodist Church provides Holy Communion as a part of its worship, it is open to all who wish to turn from sin and seek to live in peace with one another. One does not need to be a member of a United Methodist Church to participate.

The worship services are designed to provide a person with a safe, non-threatening experience to encounter God and the love of Jesus Christ, so that they can grow in their love of God, become more like Jesus, and go and share God’s love with their neighbors, communities and those throughout the world.

Thought For the Week

We are reading Proverbs and I am preaching from Proverbs at Chandler UMC this month.  I like especially what Proverbs 15:30 says: “Good news makes you feel better. Your happiness will show in your eyes.” (NCV) I was reminded that the gospel is the good news that Jesus loves us and is willing to save us from our sins. Come worship with us and receive good news.

Pastor

Pastor Steve has been preaching since he was sixteen years old. He graduated from Cincinnati Christian University and Seminary. He was first ordained in the Christian church but has served as pastor with United Methodist churches for several years. He loves the Lord and he loves people and desires to present messages that not only prepare people for heaven but also help them get through this week, life's current situations, and that enable people to have a better life here and now.

Leadership

Within the Administrative Council and regular participants of the church committees that help with the programs and development of the congregation including Worship, Outreach, Missions, Pastor Parish Relations, Trustees who oversee the care of the building and grounds, and other committees as needed to help our congregation minister well to its members and the members of our community.
